This is my entry for the GMTK Game Jam 2020, as well as my first ever 2D Platformer made in Unity.

The theme was OUT OF CONTROL, so I made a game based of the concept that your character eventually starts to have some really weird movement options. In Mark's video about Shovel Knight characters, his discussion on Plague Knight got me interested in making a character that works similar to him.

KNOWN BUGS

  • Camera on the lower half of the level tends to glitch out when the player bumps into the wall.
    • This is most likely because the player hitbox keeps hitting the trigger's bounding box. I realize now that using a screen scrolling system from a top down game probably doesn't work well with platformers!

I got caught out twice on the bit where you have to jump from a platform that floats in a circle, to the column in the middle, to another platform floating in a circle. for some reason when i jump to the pillar the camera gets confused and moved up and right diagonally and then I can't see the character.

I love the fast paced part of gameplay though, trying to find safe places to shoot bad guys or smashing space as fast as I could was a lot of fun!
